This year’s Halloween Masquerade was a night where sophisticated elegance met haunted enchantment. Hosted inside a historic ballroom with an old-world charm that felt straight out of a haunted mansion, the event invited guests to step into an evening of mystery, glamour, and spine-tingling delight.
From the moment attendees arrived in their elaborate costumes and ornate masks, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. Shadows danced across aged walls, chandeliers flickered with an eerie glow, and every detail whispered a perfect blend of spooky and upscale.
Designed as an elegant masquerade ball with a haunting twist, the evening brought together the thrill of Halloween and the refinement of a black-tie celebration—setting the tone for an unforgettable night.
Tickets & Promotion
To bring the Masquerade to life, we handled ticketing through Eventbrite, an easy and professional platform that made managing attendees seamless. Eventbrite is free to use, simply adding a small 3% fee on top of ticket prices.
Instead of traditional invitations, we focused on strategic digital marketing, sharing content across social media and boosting posts through Meta Business Suite. This modern approach helped us reach a wide audience and build excitement, proving that well-crafted online promotion can be just as effective as formal invitations.
Venue: The Historic & Haunting Fountain Square Ballroom
There was no better setting for our Halloween Masquerade than the Fountain Square Ballroom, perched on the third floor of one of Downtown Bloomington’s most iconic historic buildings. Located right on the square, this venue offers a rare blend of elegance, history, and just the right touch of haunting allure.
The ballroom itself still boasts original hand-stenciled ceilings and original light fixtures, each adding character and a little ghostly charm to the evening. Fountain Square’s rich history—once nearly lost to downtown decline—has been beautifully restored through major renovation efforts, making it a symbol of Bloomington’s revitalization. Its preserved architectural details and old-world atmosphere created the perfect setting for our elegantly spooky night.
Decorations: Spooky Elegance Brought to Life
To transform the space into a haunted mansion dreamscape, we designed every detail with sophistication and eeriness in mind. Black linens, gold chargers, and black napkins created a dramatic, luxurious base that looked even more stunning than we imagined.
Long banquet-style tables added to the grand estate feel, each adorned with four tall candelabras topped with glowing candles and dressed in red, purple, and black florals. Down the center ran black leafy garlands, spooky framed photos, and a curated mix of upscale Halloween décor.
Our favorite piece of the evening was a striking floral centerpiece featuring a woman dressed in black, her hair elegantly styled and the top of her head opened to hold cascading florals—equal parts eerie and breathtaking.
Ghostly ballroom portraits hung around the room, tea lights flickered everywhere, and a stylish photo backdrop featuring a black upside-down tree decorated with florals and masquerade masks created a dramatic photo op.
Cocktail Hour: A Hauntingly Flavorful Welcome
Guests were welcomed by Cedar Hill Catering, who opened the evening with chips and salsa alongside a hauntingly fun spooky charcuterie board complete with miniature skeletons posed around the food.
Elite Weddings & Events added thematic touches to the table, including a skeleton with a masquerade mask and a candelabra portrait that complemented the haunted aesthetic perfectly.
Cedar Hill also provided a cash bar with beer and wine, while Blessinger Entertainment filled the room with chilling, atmospheric music that wrapped the ballroom in mystery. It was the perfect start to the night.
Dinner: A Feast Fit for a Masquerade
Dinner was a true highlight, catered by Cedar Hill Catering, who delivered a meal guests couldn’t stop talking about. The menu included:
Fresh garden salad
Warm bread rolls
Tender roast beef
Parmesan chicken
Creamy mashed potatoes
Seasoned green beans
Throughout the night, we overheard guests saying, “Oh my gosh, this food is sooo good!”—a testament to Cedar Hill’s excellence. For anyone planning a future event, their service and quality come highly recommended.
Desserts: Sweet Elegance with a Spooky Twist
Dessert was a delicious pumpkin roll, made special by Cedar Hill Catering and adored by guests. The dessert table was accented by a stunning framed photo of a ballroom filled with dancing ghosts, adding a romantic and whimsical touch. It was the perfect sweet ending before dancing began.
Dancing & Entertainment: A Night Where the Spirits Moved
Once dinner concluded, Blessinger Entertainment lit up the dance floor—starting with the iconic Ghostbusters theme song. From there, guests enjoyed Halloween classics like “Thriller” and “Monster Mash,” blended with upbeat favorites that kept the energy high all night long.
Guests also loved the Cedar Hill photobooth, which sent images directly to their phones. Elite Weddings & Events elevated the backdrop with a stunning black Halloween tree adorned with black florals and masquerade masks, making each photo magical.
Costumes & Creativity: A Ballroom of Living Characters
Guests truly embraced the theme, arriving in elaborate Halloween costumes that ranged from hauntingly beautiful to delightfully spooky. Their creativity transformed the ballroom into an enchanting scene, where masked figures and gothic ensembles added depth and magic to the atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a glamorous haunted mansion brought to life.
Closing & Thank You
As the night came to an end and the candles dimmed, the ballroom still glowed with the magic of the evening. Our Halloween Masquerade was a celebration of spooky elegance, community, creativity, and unforgettable memories.
